OWI – Oel-Waerme-Institut GmbH

OWI was founded in 1998 and is an affiliated institute of the RWTH-Aachen University. OWI is a nonprofit organization with its main task undertaking applied research and development of energy and combustion technology with a focus on liquid fuels. The activities of OWI reach from industrial research to governmental funded research projects. OWI is involved in projects regarding the development of gas and oil burners, reformers, FCs, high temperature materials and CHP system design. For that purpose OWI has lab test capabilities for FC systems, fuel processors, combustion units and CHP systems. Furthermore OWI operates a material test lab with high temperature furnaces, a chemical lab for analysis of organic substances and several high performance calculation servers for numerical calculations.
