WHS as University of Applied Sciences carries out active research mainly in the areas of energy, mechanical engineering, biometrics, cyber security and health. Our activities in the area of hydrogen and fuel cell technology comprise applied research in the fields of PEM fuel cell and PEM electrolyzer systems. Our main focus is on the development of a novel stack design based on hydraulic compression of single cells. Especially, high pressure electrolysis (up to 68 bar) is currently object of two of our running projects. Further activities are related to electrode preparation, cell design, system engineering and a test systems for PEM fuel cell membrane electrode assemblies. High temperature PEM fuel cell technology is an upcoming research object for WHS as well as lithium ions batteries.
